"It was really an amazing experience, for me it's the first time. We start to climb at 12 midnight and gets there by 7 in morning including we takes an rest for 1 Hr. After visiting the temple we came down almost like 4 o clock in the evening.
It's an wonderful experience with trekking and the blessing from God Shiva. The top view at the morning time with the clouds passing through is mesmerizing. Everyone should visit this temple.
Those who have medical issues be precautious or don't visit. Also while traveling in the night time, take torch lights and walking sticks also needed. Always be careful of insects and other reptiles. Take water with you also and if you need food take that or any snacks.
Thanks."

"Best moderate - difficult level trek near coimbatore , really tests your endurance , offers amazing views at the top especially during sunrise.
The trek takes approximately 4 hours to reach the peak and another 4-5 hours to descend given that you rest at few places , eat something etc. The good time to trek would be starting by night around 12 pm , reach the peak for sunrise and then descend back.
Make sure to carry water bottles , packed food . Take one stick before starting the trek (need not buy ,available at the starting point) . Have jackets while treking at night as it would be cold up there.
Overall a must try trek to test how strong is your body and mind."

The Velliangiri Trek: A Spiritual and Physical Challenge
Key Stages of the Trek:
* 1st Hill: Features approximately 1,300 stone steps, setting a challenging tone from the outset.
* 2nd Hill (Valukuparai): Offers a slightly easier passage compared to the first.
* 3rd & 4th Hills: A mix of steps and flatter sections.
* 5th & 6th Hills: Predominantly rocky, leading to Aandi Sunai, a small water source.
* 7th Hill: The most arduous climb, but the reward is immense upon reaching the summit.
The total trek can take between 6 to 12 hours round trip, with the ascent typically taking 4-6 hours and the descent another 4-5 hours. Many pilgrims opt for a night trek, starting around midnight, to reach the peak for a spectacular sunrise. It's crucial to be well-prepared with essentials like water, snacks, a torch, and appropriate footwear.
Environmental Considerations:
Due to heavy foot traffic, especially during peak pilgrimage seasons (February to May), there's a concern for soil erosion and littering. The forest department strictly prohibits plastic use to protect the delicate ecosystem of the Western Ghats. Visitors are urged to be mindful and carry out all their waste.
Spiritual Significance and Devotion
Beyond the physical challenge, the trek is often described as an experience that fosters a sense of accomplishment, humility, and emotional clarity. The serene atmosphere and the divine presence are said to offer solace and spiritual rejuvenation. Many visitors share profound experiences of peace and connection during their pilgrimage.
During specific times like Shivaratri, the hills become even more vibrant with religious fervor. The Annadhanam (free meal distribution) at the temple premises is a testament to the community spirit and devotion associated with this sacred site.
Preparing for the Velliangiri Trek
For those undertaking a night trek, a reliable torchlight is non-negotiable for visibility. The temperature can drop significantly at higher altitudes, so a light thermal layer and a cap are advisable. Many trekkers find walking sticks invaluable for support, especially on the steeper sections. These can often be rented or purchased at the foothills.
It's also wise to pack light luggage. A cloakroom is available behind the temple to store any unnecessary items. Be mindful of insects and reptiles, particularly during night treks. While the trek is challenging, the breathtaking views and spiritual fulfillment make it a highly rewarding experience.
