What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mawsmai Cave is lauded for its stunning, ancient limestone formations and the unique adventure of navigating its narrow passages. Visitors appreciate the glimpse into prehistoric life through embedded fossils and the well-maintained, illuminated pathways. However, some find the tight squeezes challenging, and the cave can get crowded during peak hours, slightly diminishing the immersive experience.
"It is said that this is a cave that was formed about millions of years ago. This was a very beautiful experience. It's a very dark and difficult path to get inside. it was created many years ago, we can find many fossils within it. We can see many streams flowing through it. Those who go here would do well to carry a good torch light because all the sights here are in the dark. The surroundings of the cave are as beautiful as the inside. Information about some of the fossils located inside is recorded at its entry point, and if we take it as a treasure hunt, we can explore the entire cave in a very interesting way. It's best to get a little idea of what the cave is like by looking at the board near the entry counter before you enter."

"Mawsmai Cave in Meghalaya is a fascinating natural wonder. The well-lit pathways make it easy to explore the intricate limestone formations, stalactites, and stalagmites. Walking through the narrow tunnels feels like stepping into a hidden underground world. The cave is well-maintained and safe, making it suitable for both casual visitors and adventure lovers. Definitely a must-visit for anyone exploring Cherrapunji."

"Mawsmai Cave was a fascinating experience for me, and I’d rate it 5/5. The limestone formations inside are stunning—stalactites and stalagmites in all shapes, lit up in a way that highlights their natural beauty. Walking through the cave feels adventurous, with narrow passages and twists that make it exciting but still safe enough for most visitors.
It’s not a very long cave, so exploring doesn’t take too much time, but the thrill of squeezing through some parts and seeing nature’s artistry up close makes it very memorable. During peak hours it can get crowded, which slightly takes away from the charm, but overall it’s one of the must-visit spots in Cherrapunji."
