"There couldn't be a better way to join the devotees in paying homage to the rising sun, than at the Chandrabhaga Beach, the very doorstep of the Konark Temple whose presiding deity is Surya, the Sun god.
It was awe inspiring to see the large crowds gathered so early in the morning by the sea shore, patiently waiting for the orange globe to emerge from the horizon.
I have watched many a sunrise and sunsets too, but this one was particularly special because the vibes were positively different."

"A Proper Gem by the Sea at Chandrabhaga
Just a few kilometres from the Konark Sun Temple, Chandrabhaga Beach is an absolute treat. I arrived early in the morning, just in time for the sunrise - and what a sight it was. The sky lit up in soft oranges and golds, and the waves rolled in gently as if the day itself was taking a deep breath. It’s one of those places where everything slows down, and for a while, nothing else matters.
The beach is wide, clean, and refreshingly peaceful. There’s plenty of space to walk, sit, or simply gaze out at the sea. It’s got a spiritual edge too, with locals speaking about its connection to ancient myths and rituals. There’s even a tree nearby where people tie threads and make wishes - quiet, simple, and lovely.
A few stalls were open early, selling fresh coconut water and local snacks. During festivals, I’m told it gets quite lively with camel rides and fairground buzz, but on a quiet day, it feels almost like your own private coastline.
Chandrabhaga isn’t flashy, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s calm, meaningful, and a perfect breather if you’re travelling between Puri and Konark. Absolutely worth the stop. Would go again in a heartbeat."

"Chandrabhaga Beach is a clean, peaceful, and scenic beach located close to the famous Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. It is India’s first Blue Flag certified beach, which means it meets international standards of cleanliness and eco-friendliness.
The beach is perfect for watching sunrise, enjoying a quiet walk, or relaxing away from crowds. Unlike the busy Puri beach, Chandrabhaga offers a calm and spiritual atmosphere, surrounded by golden sand and gentle sea waves.
It also holds mythological importance, as it is believed to be the place where Chandrabhaga, a devotee of the Sun God, sacrificed herself. The Magha Saptami festival held here attracts thousands of pilgrims every year.
There are basic facilities like eco-toilets, shaded sitting areas, and food stalls. However, swimming is not recommended due to strong currents."
