What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Borra Caves are widely praised as a magnificent natural wonder, with visitors marveling at the stunning limestone formations illuminated by colorful lights. The cool interior and the adventurous walk through the caves are highlights. However, some visitors note that the climb back up can be strenuous, and the presence of monkeys requires vigilance.
"Great outdoor activity full of natural beauty and a bit of adventure. The way the caves are lit up with colorful lights makes everything look magnificent. The lighting helps you see the amazing rock formations clearly and adds to the whole experience.
There are steps throughout the cave, which makes it easier to walk, but the caves go quite deep, so you’ll be going down a lot. You can even hear bats inside, which gives it a real cave-like feeling!
One important warning – beware of monkeys! Witnessed three live “robberies” where monkeys jumped and snatched food from visitors, even from their hands. They are quick and not afraid, so don’t carry any food openly, and keep your bags zipped. It’s funny at first but can be scary too.
One thing to remember – the climb back up can be tough, especially for older people or anyone who isn't used to a lot of stairs. So it’s good to think before going too deep, and take your time while coming back up. It also gets a bit crowded.
The caves are very clean and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend Borra Caves – a perfect mix of nature, fun, and a bit of exercise!"
