What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the knowledgeable and engaging guides who make the coffee plantation tours both educational and fun. The opportunity to learn about coffee cultivation, spices, and local biodiversity is a major draw. While the coffee tasting is generally enjoyed, some feel it could offer more variety.
"The tour guide was very nice and informative and was very interactive and funny with us. And he showed us many other fruits and vegetables and new types of eatables but the coffee taste at end was only one type (out of the two type he had) and it tasted like any other coffee at a small coffee shop."

A Must-Visit Coffee Plantation Experience in Coorg!
Visited Greenway Coffee Island yesterday and had an absolutely wonderful time! We arrived in the evening with a light drizzle in the air, which made the lush greenery of the plantation even more magical.
The highlight of the tour was definitely the guide—an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly person who made the entire experience both educational and fun. He walked us through various plantations including Arabica and Robusta coffee, explaining the history of coffee in India and how it's grown and processed. He even kept us engaged with interesting trivia questions throughout the tour!
What stood out was how he connected everything so well—from explaining why the Silver Oak tree is known as the "mother" of coffee in Coorg, to introducing us to a wide variety of other plants grown there like turmeric, ginger, avocados, black and white peppers, coriander, bananas, mangoes, lemons, oranges, and jackfruit.
This tour is not just a walk through a plantation—it's a deep dive into the biodiversity and culture of Coorg. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!"

"We were just passing by from Kushalnagar towards Coorg and discovered this amazing Coffee Plantation. The tour didn’t just encompass arabica and robusta coffee but also of oranges, avocados, black pepper, ginger, haldi, elachi etc. Guide had this amazing skill of explaining things in short and crisp way, engaging with questions, and short quiz at end. Coffee tasting made the day.
And a cute uncle in the end gifted us avocados to take back home."

Some popular estates like Mercara Gold Estate are about 8 km from Madikeri Fort. If you're coming from further afield, consider hiring a car for the day to explore multiple plantations.
Public transport directly to individual plantations can be limited. Buses run to Madikeri, from where you'll need local transport. Renting a scooter or bike is also an option for more flexibility if you're comfortable navigating the hilly roads.
Hiring a local taxi or using ride-sharing apps (if available and reliable in the area) is recommended for hopping between different coffee estates. This allows you to maximize your time and see more variety.
