The Icelandic Pool Culture
Visitors often remark on the unique experience of swimming outdoors in Iceland, even when the air is crisp. The contrast between the cool air and the warm, mineral-rich water is invigorating. Many pools, including Selfoss, feature various temperature tubs, steam rooms, and cold plunges, offering a full spectrum of hydrotherapy. This is considered a very authentic Icelandic experience, offering great value for money.
When visiting, remember that showering thoroughly without a swimsuit before entering the pools is a strict and important rule in Iceland. This practice ensures hygiene for everyone. Embrace the local customs, and you'll find the pool to be a deeply relaxing and culturally enriching part of your trip.
Gym Facilities and Views
One of the standout features of the gym is the 'amazing large snow mountain view' visible from the workout area. This unique backdrop adds an inspiring element to any exercise routine. Unlike some gyms, lockers are included with access, which is a convenient perk, though many travelers note that Iceland is generally very safe, and they didn't always use locks.
Access to the gym is separate from the swimming pool, so be sure to get your gym access on the left counter and swimming pool access on the right counter if you plan to utilize both facilities during your visit.
