Reviews Summary

Visitors are consistently amazed by Taródi Castle's origin story – a private fortress built by one man over 50 years. While some find the interior limited, the unique architecture, historical remnants like the Iron Curtain barbed wire, and panoramic rooftop views are widely praised. The affordability and personal touch of the family-run operation add to its charm, though language barriers and cash-only policies are noted.

"A stone castle built by one man 50 years ago! And it's more than just impressive in person! Now run by the son and grandson of the builder, the castle is just an amazing sight. Now I want to build my own castle."

Filip Vrhovec

"Really not much to see, there is one level upstairs with a few rooms with some old stuff in them, then you go to the rooftop and there is a cafe. None of the other areas or turrents are open to explore. Looks cool but you can see it from the outside. Not worth the 1200huf to go in, in my opinion. The guy only speaks Hungarian so unless you can speak this cannot get the history either."

Melissa Wilson

"It is incredible how much can be accomplished by one man. This is a private place built by one person between 1969 and 2010 (when he passed away). Looks like a small castle ruin and it is pretty cool to walk around. A relative takes care of it now, he's very kind. Took around 30 or 40min to go around the entire place. There's even a pile of barbed wire that belonged to the actual Iron Curtain."
