"Visited this museum (20.02.25) after being introduced to Victor Vasarely’s work in a County Art teacher’s training session… by luck, it just so happens I was visiting Budapest shortly afterwards, so got to see his wonderful artwork up close.
What a wonderful gallery (museum). Fairly modest in size but packed with so many beautiful paintings, sketches and collages of Vasarely’s work, from his flat geometric work to his incredible op art. The colours, the precision and the patience are truly awe-inspiring.
The staff were helpful and friendly as the ambiance was calm and serene.
Other modern artists were also featured which complemented the style of Vasarely so well and you can see his clear influence.
The curator asked where I came from (England) and commented on the fact they only seem to get French or English other than Hungarians… so I just want to spread the word further… to all nationalities, if you are in Budapest , love abstract geometric art and op art the Victor Vasarely Museum is the place to go."
