"Was interesting to visit the synagogue my grandfather was davening at as a newly wed man and the museum nearby. My Hungarian language speaking was definitely a plus..."

"Was told about the museum at the Tourist Information and it really is worth a visit. During a visit you will also get to see inside the synagogue. Although it is in a state of decay it paints a picture of a community now almost lost. The synagoge could house 800 people out of the more then 15 000 in the pre-war jewish community. Now only 300-400 live in Miskolc. The architect was Ludwig Förster, the man who designed the Dohany Synagogue in Budapest. The museum is brand new and a great way to learn about jewish Miskolc. Hopefully down the line money will be given towards the restauration of the third largest synagogue in Hungary."
