What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the Town Hall Városháza for its impressive architecture and historical significance. The panoramic views from higher levels are frequently highlighted as a major draw. However, some reviews mention issues with environmental upkeep in surrounding areas and a lack of responsiveness from municipal administration.
"As a resident of Eger, I would like to draw the attention of the city administration to the regrettable trend due to which classic family house areas, such as Petőfi Street and Bethlen Street, are becoming overcrowded and increasingly uninhabitable as a result of profiteering people and the helpless office. They are cramming 6-8-10-12 apartments into the area of the former family house as new condominiums, with absolutely no regard for the further overloading of the narrow roads and intersections belonging to the given area, and the significant deterioration of the comfort of those already living there. Please do not worsen the living conditions of the residents of Eger because of profiteering businessmen, but rather improve them in the future! János Fejes"

"Eger, Town Hall, stands on the main square, Dobó Square, next to the Saint Anthony Minorite Church. The eclectic building of the town hall was built in the last years of the 19th century on the site of the demolished buildings of the old town hall, on Dobó Square. The wing on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street was built in 1895 as a city apartment building, later attached to the Dobó Square wing, which was built for the purpose of town hall in 1900."

"The Eger stream and its surroundings are full of garbage. On the sidewalks, kind dog owners leave their pets' feces. I once saw two public workers picking up garbage along the stream, which consisted of kicking plastic bottles into the stream and walking past the garbage... I wanted to report this observation to the municipality, where the operator connected the city administration to the observation I made, where of course no one picked up the phone. I tried to call the municipality again, but unfortunately no one picked up the phone there either. It would be a beautiful historical city if people paid attention to their environment or the administration emphasized solving environmental pollution, strongly sanctioned and monitored the completion of assigned tasks and environmental pollution. I trust that future generations will be much more aware and responsible."
