"“We have a chance to do something extraordinary. As we head out of this pandemic we can change the world. Create a world of love. A world where we are kind to each other. A world were we are kind no matter what class, race, sexual orientation, what religion or lack of or what job we have. A world we don't judge those at the food bank because that may be us if things were just slightly different. Let love and kindness be our roadmap.”― Johnny Corn

"A wonderful view opens up towards the city of Eger.
It can be accessed from several directions, via several tourist signs. There are signs leading up from Noszvaj, Felsőtárkány and Eger, and there is also a nature trail that touches Nagy-Egede, which is only 3.7 km long, but it has 270 m of elevation gain and the same amount of descent (considering that it is a circular tour), so it is quite steep in places. The nature trail has 10 signs about the plants, animals, soil and viticulture that live here.
As you follow the nature trail, part of the road leads through a pine forest, which in autumn, when other trees are barely starting to turn yellow, is already resplendent in beautiful colors.
The nature trail also has a parking lot accessible from the road connecting Eger with Noszvaj, from which you only have to walk 250 m."

The Unique Terroir of Eged Hill
The microclimate of Eged Hill is another significant factor. It possesses a sub-Mediterranean climate, which is unusual for continental Hungary. This warmer, drier environment allows grapes to ripen fully, developing rich flavors and aromas. The elevation and aspect of the vineyards also play a role, ensuring optimal sunlight exposure and air circulation.
These combined elements create a perfect environment for cultivating high-quality grapes, particularly varietals like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as well as local grapes like Kadarka. Wineries like St. Andrea and Gróf Buttler leverage this unique terroir to produce award-winning wines that are celebrated both domestically and internationally.
Hiking and Nature Exploration
The nature trail is a particular highlight, offering a more immersive experience in the local ecosystem. This trail features 10 informative signs detailing the region's plants, animals, and viticulture. Parts of the trail wind through pine forests, which offer beautiful colors, especially in autumn.
For those who enjoy a challenge, the nature trail provides a good workout with its significant elevation gain and descent. The payoff is the stunning panoramic view from the summit, which is perfect for resting, picnicking, and taking in the breathtaking scenery of Eger and its surroundings.
Wine Tourism and Experiences
Beyond tastings, many wineries offer vineyard tours, allowing guests to explore the picturesque landscapes where the grapes are grown. These tours often highlight the unique terroir and the sustainable practices employed by the wineries. Special events, such as wine dinners, are also frequently held, providing an unforgettable culinary and oenological experience with spectacular views.
It's advisable to book these experiences in advance, as popular wineries can get quite busy, especially during peak seasons like harvest time. This ensures you can fully enjoy the exceptional wines and hospitality Eged Hill has to offer.
