What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the stunning beauty and historical significance of both St. Stephen's Basilica and the recreated St. Stephen's Hall. The intricate details, architectural grandeur, and panoramic views are frequently praised. However, some guests have encountered issues with staff behavior and found certain ticket prices to be high for the experience offered.
"First part of the renovations of the castle complex. Inside is lovely with an audio guide to explain. Whole area is a maze of construction at the moment (Nov 2025) and complex to navigate.
Couldn’t buy ticket in advance (said sold out) but they were still available from the desk and info centre on the day."

"The exhibition Szent István-terem is absolutely stunning. The restoration work is breathtaking, the interiors are incredibly detailed, and the overall atmosphere is truly impressive. It is a beautiful and meaningful space, and I was genuinely excited to experience it.
Unfortunately, the visit was seriously affected by the behavior of one staff member, Julianna. I was not aware that touching was strictly forbidden and lightly brushed against one of the curtains. She immediately started shouting “DON’T TOUCH” across the entire hall. I understood the rule instantly, stepped back, and apologized.
Despite this, she continued yelling loudly so that everyone could hear, which felt unnecessary, humiliating, and highly unprofessional. When I calmly said that I had understood her the first time, she began speaking in Hungarian in a clearly hostile manner, fully aware that I do not understand the language.
After that, she kept staring at us aggressively for the rest of our visit, making us feel uncomfortable and discouraged from even approaching the exhibits to properly view and appreciate them.
I fully respect the need to protect historical objects, but respectful communication is essential in a cultural institution. This behavior significantly detracted from an otherwise outstanding exhibition."

"Beautiful view on the inside, but too expensive for what it is. The workers also can be a bit rude and try to rush you through the exhibit halls so they can be on their phones again."
