Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Kazinczy Street Synagogue for its stunning and unique Art Deco interior, particularly the vibrant paintwork and stained-glass windows. Its location in the lively Jewish Quarter is also a major draw, offering a blend of history and modern nightlife. Some find it less crowded than other major synagogues, allowing for a more peaceful experience.

"This is another of Budapest’s historic synagogues with beautiful stained-glass windows and a beautiful arch decorated double metal door at the front. However, the synagogue was closed to the public today and it appears there is some major renovation being done to the front portion of the synagogue. We later learned that there is an entrance fee whenever the synagogue is open. We did have the opportunity to enter the side and rear courtyards from the entrance door to the right. This is an interesting area to explore with the many historic photos along the side of the synagogue’s walls telling some of the history of this historic building. In the rear courtyard, you will also find a large metal chuppah or wedding canopy."

Thomas B

"A beautiful synagogue. The biggest orthodox one in Budapest.
Unfortunately it is hard to meet the local community, because they were kicked out by some people, who have no connection to this place. Tourists however can enter for a fee and the money will land in the hands of those who kick people out of their own synagogue.
(The photo was not taken in the main shul, but in the small prayer room)"

Gabor Sarosi

"Interesting synagogue. The Jewish community made an agreement with the monicipalety. The came out with the restoration money and the synagogue will be used for public events also.
The stage is movable into the lower floor creating a large hall."
