What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Hungarian Museum of Literature is praised for its beautiful, original, and interactive exhibits, offering a unique glimpse into Hungarian literary history. However, a significant drawback for international visitors is the very limited English information, making it challenging to fully appreciate the content without understanding Hungarian.
"I would normally rate it as a 4 or 4,5 because the museum was beautiful, the exhibits were presented in an original way and it included interactive parts. However, the information in English was very limited which made it extremely hard to follow and actually appreciate this really good job done. There was a qr code in the entrance for English speakers, which included some audios without a picture or name of the exhibits they refered to. So if you had headphones with you, you could get some more information. Another issue was that when scanning the qr code underneath the exhibits, the information was provided only in Hungarian.
Totally recommend it for Hungarian speakers, but not for English speakers."

"I was intrigued by the Petofi Museum when I saw it pop on the list of museums on Google and I made sure I visited this place. So there was no one except us and only some parts had translations in English but there was this very kind girl named Krisztina who on my request explained everything to me. Very sweet girl. She explained the contemporary arts kept in the temporary exhibition. After that she even explained to me the life of Petofi. He was a very famous Hungarian poet during the revolution time in Hungary. And she told me that many Hungarians are extremely fond of him and his works which is why an entire museum this big is dedicated to him. There are intensive details about his life maybe even observing his psychology and tracing what made him so great. Wish I knew the language to understand it with more clarity. Nevertheless Krisztina made me have a good time in the museum.
If you are someone who likes venturing into museums that don't appeal to most of the museum lovers then you would love this place. I loved it for the sheer vibe of it. These things are so old and with hardly any people inside you can almost feel all the energy of antiques hitting you. I spent 2 hours photographing and I have shared some of the many photographs.
The entrance price costs somewhere around 10 euros."
