Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Pok Fu Lam Reservoir for its historical significance, tranquil atmosphere, and beautiful natural scenery, offering a peaceful escape from Hong Kong's urban hustle. The hiking trails, especially those leading to The Peak, are a major draw, providing rewarding views. Some find the facilities limited and advise caution regarding insects on less-maintained paths.

"Pokfulam Reservoir
This is the earliest built reservoir in HK noticeably small. It is neared to the HK University Dormintory.
It has several historical sites even at the entrance to the circular paved road, a family walk trail, along the reservoir.
At the junction of the Pokfulam Road and Pokfulam reservoir road near Chi Fu Estate, one can start the walk uphill on the paved vehicle road. Enroute one passes the PHAB Association ,Jockey Club PHAB horse training camp, further up near to the boom barrier is the old historical sites of buildings such as the Old Watchman Quarters.
From here waking up the paved road for about 1 Km ,one stream will be in sight.
This visit in early June was for seeing the waterfalls here after the rain storms during the week before the visit .
Not overly exciting views of the waterfall but it was an enjoyable walk for exercise and viewing the water flows of the stream. The whole round trip was about 2KM and took about 45 minutes, some minor slopes were involved.

"Trek to this reservoir as an offshoot of the Hong-Kong trail. The trek is of multiple downhill steps but you get rewarded with great views. If you have trekked here from the peak, then you can return back to the city by taking a bus a short walk from here."

"The Pok Fu Lam Reservoir is situated on the lower section of the Pok Fu Lam Country Park in between the village and Victoria Peak. This was the first reservoir in Hong Kong (1863), serving as a critical source of water for the rapidly expanding population during the mid 19th-century.

Visitors can enjoy seeing the reservoir as part of short and easy hikes found within the Country Park. The area is forested with lots of greenery. You may find hawks or other birdlife in the area and there are usually a handful of fisherman trying their luck in the lake.

In addition to the reservoir, you'll find a historic Watchman's Cottage, four masonry bridges and other structures that form the reservoir dam that are collectively designated as a Declared Monument of historical value in Hong Kong. These are interesting to see and read about on the information panels provided along the paved walking trail found at the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir."
