Reviews Summary

Kai Kai Dessert is a highly-rated, Michelin-recognized spot for traditional Cantonese sweet soups. Visitors rave about the authentic flavors, especially the sesame balls and ginger soup, and appreciate the modern ordering system. However, some find the desserts excessively sweet, and queues can be long during peak times.

"Kai Kai Dessert 佳佳甜品 is one of those classic Hong Kong dessert shops that really lives up to its reputation.

The highlight for me is definitely the sesame balls – the skin is amazingly thin and crispy, with a very generous amount of fragrant black sesame filling inside. Every bite is super satisfying without feeling too heavy or oily.

The ginger soup is another level – extremely spicy and powerful. After a few spoonfuls my whole face turned red, but in a good way! You can really taste the freshness of the ginger, perfect if you like traditional Cantonese desserts with a strong warming effect.

Although the shop itself is quite small and simple, the quality of the desserts is very high. Everything tastes freshly made, and the flavours are very authentic. I also really appreciate that they make good use of technology for ordering and payment – there is a clear system, multiple language options and many ways to pay, which makes it convenient for both locals and foreigners.

Overall, a great place to enjoy traditional Hong Kong sweet soups with modern convenience. Highly recommend the sesame balls and ginger soup if you visit Kai Kai Dessert."

"Honestly, it was really sweet, like very sweet 🥺🥺 There were 6 of us, and no one could finish their own. we all gave up and didn’t even get halfway through our bowls as it was just too sweet and so sorry to the owner 😢🥹
We came because the good reviews, and the queue in front of the restaurant was so longgg! but since we came as a group of 6, we got in pretty fast but If you come with just 2–3 people though, be ready to wait for a while.
The place is small, but it’s clean.😊"

"Kai Kai is proof that simplicity can be unforgettable. Their black bean dessert is the quiet star, a soft, perfectly stewed beans with a natural sweetness that feels comforting rather than heavy. The texture is spot-on: tender without turning mushy, with a warm, earthy flavor that lingers in the best way. Service is fast, portions are generous, and it’s the kind of bowl that makes you slow down and appreciate how good traditional desserts can be. A must-order every visit."
