Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the centro histórico for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural atmosphere. Many highlight the immersive experience of walking through its streets and discovering local traditions. However, some note that certain areas can feel overly touristy, and prices in prime locations might be higher.

"The market in this small village is the perfect place to admire Mayan culture.
It's the largest Indian market in the region, known for its diverse products and the beautiful colors of the women's clothing."

Jean-Luc VILEMOT

"Much has been said about this market, perhaps one of the best in Central America and surely one that will appear among the most intriguing markets in the world. However, it's important to understand that, although it's primarily a crafts market, it actually encompasses all kinds of products for the daily lives of the region's inhabitants. It's advisable not to visit any other market before this one if you're in Guatemala, because if you've already visited, as I did, the Antigua Handicrafts Market and the main commercial street in Panajachel, it won't be as surprising. The prices are similar in many cases to those previously mentioned places. Perhaps not so much in terms of shopping, but observing the interactions of the indigenous groups present in the market or visiting their temples is what sets it apart from other places in Guatemala. But if you're only going to shop or have already been to other markets, you might find this visit not as remarkable as the travel guides and tours make it out to be."

Ya Pu

"It has the best crafts market in Mesoamerica, rated among the 10 most fascinating markets according to National Geographic, Spain."
