"Nice beach with animals, snorkeling, swimming, and more. Parking close by. An old, WWII Japanese gun emplacement on one end of the beach, too. Be careful with the coral, stay off it or else it will shred your feet."

"Absolutely breath taking. Was told you had to hike to the top to see the WW2 gun but no, it's right on the beach. There was a small hiking trail that took you out to the front of the rock, helped you see around the corner but thats it. Really cool to see a part of WW2 history. Very beautiful white sands and bright blue crystal clear water."

"Visited the island for work and discovered this beautiful beach close by Hilton resort for stunning sunset view. Quite easy to find and accessible with parkings. There is a nice restaurant on the beach as well but I have not got a chance to try out. Highly recommend!"

Exploring the WWII History
This historical site adds a layer of depth to the typical beach experience. It serves as a reminder of the island's strategic importance during the war and offers a moment of reflection amidst the natural beauty. The juxtaposition of the weathered gun against the pristine white sand and turquoise waters creates a powerful visual.
Marine Life and Underwater Adventures
To make the most of the underwater experience, it's recommended to walk out along the pipes and past the reef breaks. The water can get quite deep, so wearing fins and a vest is advisable, especially if you're not a strong swimmer. Visibility is often excellent, allowing for clear views of the diverse marine ecosystem, including sea stars and sea cucumbers in the rocky coves.
While the marine life is a major draw, it's crucial to be mindful of the coral. Stepping on it can cause severe cuts, hence the strong recommendation for water shoes. Responsible interaction with the marine environment, such as avoiding touching the coral, ensures its preservation for future visitors.
Navigating Gun Beach: Safety and Best Practices
For those exploring the rocky areas and tide pools, water shoes are an absolute must. The coral and rocks can be sharp and unforgiving, and wearing protective footwear will prevent injuries. This is also crucial for protecting the delicate coral ecosystem itself.
When it comes to swimming and snorkeling, the water can become deep quickly. If you're not a confident swimmer, consider using floatation devices like vests or fins to enhance your safety and comfort in the water. The Guam Micronesia Island Fair (GMIF) is also held here sometimes, which can bring larger crowds.
