Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the La Soufrière hike for its stunning natural beauty and rewarding summit views, despite its challenging climb. Many appreciate the well-maintained trails and accessibility for families. However, the unpredictable summit weather and crowded conditions, especially for parking, are common drawbacks.

"Very cool hike. The “hard” rating comes from the sheer climb that you need to do, about 190 floors equivalent from where you’ll likely park, which will be on the road, down from the official lot, good for about 20 vehicles - anytime after 7:30 it’s full. The easiness and overall accessibility of the trail is due to its organization. There’s not only very clear markings, but also pavement for a good part of the initial climb, and later railings and other helpers. We saw entire families go up, small children with their grandmas. It’s obviously for everyone, but you’ll breathe hard. Don’t be intimidated by its height, take your time. And be patient because there are tons of people. It’s well worth it."

Tomasz Jankowski

"Difficult hike, with rocks and stairs to climb. Accidents can also happen, as we witnessed an air evacuation while at the top. However, it is doable and we saw many families with small children making it. The vegetation is luxurious. Views, when not hidden by clouds or fog, are great too. It does get very windy/cold/rainy, so make sure to go on a clear day and be prepared. Overall, great activity to do in Guadeloupe."

Joana

"I'd say it is a moderately difficult hiking trail. Well marked trail, beautiful views, last part of the trail is a bit more difficult because it is slippery.
It is cold and windy at the top and it may rain sometimes. Take warmer clothes, good shoes and rain jacket.
At the foot of the volcano a hot water pool awaits you as a reward."
