What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vlychada Beach is lauded for its stunning, undeveloped natural beauty and serene atmosphere, making it a paradise for nature lovers and campers. While the adventurous drive is a highlight for many, some find the beach can get crowded with campers, and the wind can be a factor. The basic canteen adds a touch of convenience to this wild escape.
"In English for everyone. I went there in September, during the last weekend when the shop is open.
Drive from Rixia (village on the mountain) is amazing and easy for cars. Not sure why people complain about it. Beach is beautiful, empty and underdeveloped which is my style of scenery. Though it was windy, it wasn't as bad as people complain about it. Just have a good umbrella and some ropes to secure it because some gusts can get powerful. The bay faces the island of Milos (east) and it's very narrow, so water is well protected.
Read some of the Greek comments and omg with the exaggerations."

"We started our journey early in the morning from Monemvasia, eager to spend the day at Vlychada Beach in the Municipality of Zaraka. Unfortunately, we hadn't brought any water, coffee, or food with us. However, we were fortunate to find a mini-market in the village of Reichia, where we stocked up on water and food, knowing we’d be staying for several hours.
The road to the beach was quite narrow and steep, but it was manageable all the way down.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by stunning views and crystal-clear waters with small pebbles. The highlight of our visit was the small canteen that served delicious coffee and food.
Overall, Vlychada Beach offered a perfect combination of natural beauty, pristine waters, and convenient amenities. Highly recommended for a relaxing and enjoyable day by the sea!"

"After 13 years still a beautiful place, but overcrowded with campers. Sadly some people don't understand what camping is all about. No signal, no worries, just nature and sea."

While the road can be challenging, it's a testament to the beach's secluded nature. This remoteness is precisely what appeals to many visitors seeking an escape from crowded tourist spots. The drive ensures that only those truly committed to discovering this hidden gem will arrive, preserving its tranquil atmosphere.
Key takeaway: Don't let the road deter you! It's a crucial part of the Vlychada Beach experience, offering stunning vistas and a sense of discovery. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition and drive with caution to fully appreciate the scenic route.
Embracing the Wild Nature
However, this wildness also means being prepared. The beach can be quite windy, so visitors are advised to bring sturdy umbrellas and ropes to secure them against strong gusts. Swimming conditions can sometimes be challenging due to the wind, so it's important to be mindful of the sea and not swim too far out. The local 'beach bar' or canteen is basic, so packing your own food and water is a smart move, especially if you plan a longer stay.

The Vlychada Camping Experience
While the camping experience is a major draw, some visitors note that the beach can become overcrowded with campers, which can detract from the sense of solitude for some. It's important for campers to practice Leave No Trace principles to help preserve the pristine condition of this beautiful natural spot.
Considerations for campers: Pack all necessary supplies, be mindful of your impact on the environment, and respect the quiet nature of the location.
