What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the museum's focus on modern Greek art and the opportunity to discover lesser-known artists like Valias Semertzidis. The value of combined tickets for multiple museums is a significant plus. However, frequent issues with building renovations and a lack of clear communication about closures have led to disappointment for some.
"Great display of modern Greek art and a whole 2nd floor devoted to a great artist unknown to us: Valias Semertzidis. Temporary exhibition all in Greek of a local hospital, in the neighbouring new wing."
Paul Martinez
"At least right now, not really worth a visit.
The main building was supposed to be closed for renovation until June 30th 2025, we were there July 3rd and it was still closed but there is absolutely no information about the ongoing renovation on the museums website, their social media accounts or even the building itself. There's a suggestion...
After being stopped semi-rudely (just "please close") when we tried to walk in through the open door, we went over to the New Wing, where we were at least able to look at a very small exhibition "engravings in space" for a reduced entrance fee."
Maja W.
"With one ticket you can visit 3 museums do that is very nice.
The ground floor contains letters and edicts regarding the tax that should be paired during ottoman occupation. I didn't knew that some have included the quantity of sponges :).
The first floor contains photos of religious practices in different religions, some interesting pieces regarding how the light falls . On the same floor you have pictures regarding the nature destruction, done of them are staged but interesting as composition.
The second level contains paintings of Greek islands."
