What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Pikrodafni Stream Estuary is recognized for its ecological significance, hosting diverse wildlife like eels and birds, despite facing considerable pollution and abandonment. While some efforts are made to manage waste, the area remains largely unkempt, offering a raw nature experience rather than a picturesque one. It's a refuge for fauna, appreciated by those who value biodiversity over aesthetics.
"The stream is abandoned, full of garbage. The municipality does nothing. It has everything from plastics, sofas, car tires to anything you can imagine, and they have even spray-painted the stones. A small strip of nature in complete abandonment. Too bad, do something to the Municipality."

"I have known the stream since my childhood and I confess that the responsible municipalities have done a great job of bringing them together without affecting the natural wealth! The garbage is collected regularly, I believe because there are many who take advantage of their freedom by polluting it.
In the waters during the month of October I spotted three eels at 11 pm! Also, towards the summer and autumn, frogs can be heard, while various types of birds fly. I consider it a good thing that it is not particularly accessible to the public, mainly for reasons of pollution but also of the disturbance of wildlife. I hope that over the years this refuge of all these types of life will be preserved, even if the aesthetics of the stream do not "fill our eyes"."

"The Pikrodafni stream originates from the Byron area in Hymettus and ends at the Saronic Gulf at this point. Although it hosts a complete ecosystem of flora and fauna, the stream is unfortunately highly polluted."
