Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Mili Gorge's unique blend of natural beauty and historical charm, calling it a favorite spot on Crete. The refreshing natural pools and the scenic hike through ruins are highlights, though some note the return uphill can be challenging. It's considered a great, accessible option near Rethymno for a refreshing escape.
"Take plenty of water. It’s 45 mins each way. You go back the same route you came. Park on the road, the entrance is obvious. We went downhill first and then the return was all uphill. However at the end once we were almost back to the car, we went swimming in the waterfall. It was amazingly clear, cold and refreshing. Something different to do in Crete. You have to be averagely fit and be prepared in trainers. Ive never been wild swimming before so it was wonderful to do here. We went in September and there was plenty water for a dip. I was a bit worried how hard the trail would be in the heat but around 70% was in the shade. I’m also not very fit but managed it fine, taking small breaks on the way back up hill."

"Nice old mills to see, although none is near working condition, one is nicely restored but still missing wheel and gears, just the mill stone. With (smaller) kids I'd recommend starting at Milli and go down to Banana taverna and then take back a taxi."
