"Staying in downtown Athens, it was a trek to get to Ellinikon Experience Park. We took the metro to the end of the line and walked 20 minutes there and back. It was doable, but a lot of walking for little kids in the summer heat.
Once we arrived, we spent some time learning about the development on the site of the old airport. This part was inside a restored airport hanger. It was very interactive and free, but my eight-year-old daughter was sad you have to be 14 to try the bike and boat as part of the experience. There is a cafe and restrooms inside.
Outside is a large enclosed playground with a zipline, sand pit, swings, and more. My daughter loved this park, but really loved the splash pad across the path. We got soaked for an hour until they turned it off."
