Reviews Summary
This museum offers a free and informative look into a significant, yet often overlooked, part of Greek history, particularly the exile experiences on Makronisos island. While praised for its unique content and helpful staff, visitors should be prepared for unpredictable opening hours and potential restrictions on photography.
"Very informative museum largely about the events surrounding Makronisos island. They have leaflets in English as well as Greek. A lot of artifacts, posters, art, photos and more. Very underrated I would definitely recommend a visit, free entry"

"The museum is almost permanently closed. After a week of trying to find the doors being open I reached out to the director who opened the museum upon an appointment. Today I was not even 5 minutes into exploring the sad chapter of Exile when the director approached me and stopped me from taking pictures, reserving the right only to people who are doing research. While articles on the web may be found pointing out that the museum is a "less known" Museum and also the director in an interview pointing out that "the matter of the exile is not taught in schools any longer" HE is the one preserving knowledge to be spread and reserving the right for education at his own discretion. This approach is shameful. 0/10"
