What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Agia Irini Gorge is praised as a superb, medium-to-easy hike with magnificent scenery, often considered a less crowded alternative to Samaria Gorge. Visitors appreciate the natural beauty, shady sections, and the rewarding finish in Sougia. Some note the need for proper footwear and the warm water from fountains.
"Superb hike. Medium to easy level. We parked downward at the Oasis restaurant (known as Oasi on Google Maps) and went up first : took us 2:30. We had a break at the cute restaurant at the top, then went down in 2:00. An other option is to park at Agia Irini, then go down and either call a taxi or walk the 5 km down to Sougia and take the bus back to Agia Irini.
You'll need proper shoes, and cold water. There are 4 points where you will find toilets and drinkable water foutains - but the water there is warm.
During the way up, there are lots of big rocks during the 2 km, then a really easy walk for another km, then it goes up and down with lots of irregular stairs during 2 km. Then it's a really cool path until the end."
