"Wetzlar Cathedral, is a striking medieval church. Despite its name, it has never been a bishop's seat, meaning it isn't a cathedral in the traditional sense.
Constructed in 1230, but remains unfinished, with the northern belfry of the western front never completed.
However, it is still.open to the public for mediation and admiration. We did not have to pay to go inside. It serves well for the community. There are small rooms connected to the main hall for reflection and mediation. I enjoy history and I enjoyed the artitctural side of this church too.
There is a paid tour of the old city. The cathedral is included in that tour."

Wetzlar's HISTORICAL OLD TOWN is the heart of the city and where you'll find its museums and main sights.
The city also has a significant LITERARY HISTORY. It was here that in the summer of 1772, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was inspired to write one of his most famous works, "The Sorrows of Young Werther". Built in 1653, the Lottehaus, once the home of Charlotte Buff, the object of Goethe's unrequited affections, is today a museum that has a permanent exhibition dedicated to his work."
