"The house was built around 1680 as a fulling mill for cloth makers on the site of an old mill, first documented in the 13th century. The waterwheel was fed by a mill race from the Zillierbach stream. From the mid-19th century, the building served as a flour mill, and around 1890 it was converted into a residential building. For many years, the city administration used the house as its administrative headquarters."
