What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are generally impressed by the sheer novelty and scale of the World's Largest Cuckoo Clock, finding it a unique and fun attraction, especially for families. However, some travelers have expressed dissatisfaction with the shipping process for purchased clocks, citing unexpected fees and issues with post-sales support. The nearby Triberg Waterfalls are also a popular and beautiful addition to the visit.
"Purchased a cuckoo clock to have shipped home to the USA. Customer service at the store while making the purchase was great. They helped with the VAT tax refund and we complete all the necessary paperwork for shipping and invoicing. I pay with my credit card for the clock plus shipping and handling (49,00€). They tell me everything is good to go and I should expect my package within 4-6 weeks.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and I receive an email from the store. They are claiming an additional 40€ be paid in US customs clearance fees via PayPal in order for my package to be released and shipped. Their claim for such a charge is due to the Trump Administration and tariffs. Given the state of the US trade war and unpredictability of The Donald, such a claim doesn't seem completely unreasonable, but I'm not going to just blindly pay without some sort of proof just to get double dipped and be stuck with also paying customs duties upon delivery in the USA.
I email back and ask for some sort of verification/proof that a customs clearance PRIOR to shipping is required because customs duties are typically paid upon delivery and pickup in the USA. However, they tell me there is no proof and I just need to pay them. Additionally, if they know that a customs clearance fees is required in order to shipping, why wasn't that cost determined and charged at the store during the invoice/payment process?
After doing my own research and reaching out to US Customs, I'm told that customs duty fees are determined upon entry into the USA by US Customs. After finding this out, I email and request my order be canceled and a refund be put back on my card. After confirmation that my order was canceled, I still have yet to receive a refund. I'm now working with my credit card to dispute the charge and get my money back.
If you purchase from here and want to ship to your home, I highly recommend you purchase and take to the Deutsche Post or DHL and ship on your own."

"Very nice place and time to spend with family and kids, to see this World's largest Cuckoo clock. There were two clocks at front and back. Front side, it will strike with Cuckoo sound every hour. Rear side clock has option to hear Cuckoo sound, by inserting 1Euro - 1 number (or) 50Cents - 2 numbers.
But, remember, this is the second World's largest Cuckoo clock in Schwarzwald (Black forest), because already there was another largest Cuckoo clock in Schwarzwald (Black forest) in another location named "Erste weltgrößte Kuckucksuhr, Untertalstraße 28, 78136 Schonach im Schwarzwald".
Very near from Triberg Bahnhof, if you travel by Car and its tracking location are easily visible. But, for those who come by Train till Triberg, Google maps won't help you to catch Bus, rather it says to walk. There were 2 buses available from Bahnhof to this location. One is 530 and another is 7150. Once you travel till Triberg Bahnhof, catch 550 bus and get down at "Frejusstraße/Abzw. Bahnhof, Triberg im Schwarzwald" stopping, then catch either 530 or 7150 from there to "Schonachbach, Triberg im Schwarzwald" location and then walk for 74meter distance to reach this spot. Best use the Deutsche Bahn website "int.bahn.de" for proper timing and the time you get down at Triberg Bahnhof Train station to catch buses and train plus walking distance details."

"They do have a large variety of clocks but please don't expect post sales support even if the clock is under warranty. They sell clocks with defects to expats and boast it will run for a lifetime but in reality it does not. They don't offer any support , other than sending youtube videos , when the clock does not work.. Definitely causes black remarks for the reputation of the cuckoo clocks.
Attaching the first video we took after installing the clock, before 2 years and even in that you can see that the door is not aligned. Since the first day the cuckoo bird is inconsistent.."

Navigating Purchases and Shipping
It's highly recommended to research international shipping regulations and potential tariffs for your home country before making a purchase. Some advice suggests that customs duties are typically paid upon arrival in the destination country, not prior to shipping. If you have concerns, consider arranging your own shipping through a reputable carrier like Deutsche Post or DHL directly from Triberg.
Furthermore, be aware that post-sales support and warranty claims for clocks shipped internationally can be challenging. Some customers have reported receiving clocks with minor defects or experiencing issues that were not adequately resolved by the seller. Thoroughly inspect your clock upon arrival and understand the return or repair policy before finalizing your purchase.

Exploring the waterfalls involves walking along well-maintained paths that lead you up alongside the cascades. Be prepared for some uphill sections, as the terrain can be steep in places. The natural environment is lush and green, especially during the warmer months, and the sound of the rushing water is incredibly soothing.

It offers a glimpse into traditional German life, with quaint shops, local eateries, and a generally welcoming atmosphere.
