What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
HanseDom Stralsund offers a fun-filled water park experience with thrilling slides and a wave pool, making it a hit with families. While the spa and sauna facilities are generally well-regarded for relaxation, the hotel accommodation and some dining aspects have received criticism for being dated and inconsistent. Visitors should be aware that water park access is a separate booking from hotel stays.
"The place might have been really nice at some point, but now it is not being taken care off.
As for the Hotel:
The rooms looks worn down, bathroom fan makes loud noises, the fridge was missing a shelf. Moldy grouts in the shower. The pillows for the beds are clumpy, a replacement should have happened a long time ago.
The hotel restaurant:
Decent breakfast.
Dinner was not impressive, only two items to chose from as starters and two for main course, and only one type of dessert.
We had burgers one night, and it was bland and boring, Mac Donald's would be a good competitor for this meal. The second day we decided to eat elsewhere.
There is a playground around the back, but this was for some reason closed.
The water park was decent. Things were clean.
The area for toddlers were by all meas easy to overlook.
The spa area was also decent, but it also showed clear signs of not being taken well care of."

"This review is for the gym and sauna. Both are excellent and the friendliness of the staff is unsurpassed. Gym: large amount of well-kept machines. Super-friendly staff member Marcel made us feel at home. The sauna looks a bit outdated in style, but hq material and also great staff, who went to great lengths to find my lost phone, which in the end was in my hidden jacket pocket. Love this place!!!"

"We didn't stay in the hotel, but we visited the adventure pool and saunas one Friday afternoon in October. The pools were amazing! The outdoor pool was nicely heated. 5 different slides, waterfalls, spa jets, a wave pool, and many different jacuzzis. We spent a good 2 hours in the pool before it closed, and then we made our way into the sauna area. The outside saunas and pool were unfortunately out of order, as was the bar. We were advised by the staff to get a snack in the pool area on arrival, but we were too busy with swimming.
The sauna area was nicely laid out, with different types of showers, foot baths and resting areas.
The changing areas and showers were roomy and clean.
As we were staying in Stralsund Altstadt, it was very easy to reach via bus. As we left in the evening, the staff were kind and organised us a taxi (approx 20 euros)."

Navigating the Water Park Experience
While the water park is generally well-maintained, some reviews mention that certain areas, like the outdoor pool or bar, might be out of order. It's wise to have realistic expectations and check onsite for any temporary closures. The toddler area is designed for the youngest visitors, offering a safe and engaging space for them to play.
Remember that entry to the water park is often a separate booking from hotel stays. This is a crucial detail to confirm when planning your visit to avoid disappointment. Planning your visit during weekday afternoons can help you avoid the largest crowds and enjoy a more serene experience.
Hotel Stay vs. Day Visit
Many visitors opt for a day visit to enjoy the water park and spa without staying at the hotel. This approach allows you to focus on the leisure amenities, which are generally more positively reviewed. If you choose to stay at the hotel, be aware that the water park entry is an additional cost and not automatically included. This distinction is important to clarify during booking to manage expectations and avoid unexpected charges or disappointed family members.
For those seeking a more budget-friendly or focused experience, a day visit to the water park and spa is often recommended over a full hotel stay, allowing you to enjoy the main attractions without the potential drawbacks of the accommodation.
Exploring the Spa and Sauna Facilities
While the sauna facilities are generally appreciated for their material quality and the efforts of the staff, some reviews note that the style might appear a bit outdated. However, the overall experience is often described as great, with staff going the extra mile to assist guests, such as helping to find lost items. It's worth noting that sometimes outdoor saunas or pools within the spa area might be out of order, so it's advisable to check onsite for current availability.
For a truly relaxing experience, consider visiting during weekday afternoons when the crowds are typically lower, allowing for a more peaceful and uninterrupted spa session. The friendly staff contribute significantly to the positive atmosphere, making it a welcoming environment for unwinding.
