What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sea Life Oberhausen offers a generally positive experience, especially for families, with highlights like the ocean tunnel and friendly staff. However, some visitors find the ticket prices high and note that certain exhibits can be closed or appear dated. The app's performance has also been a point of criticism.
"A pleasant experience to do alone or with your family.
The kids love it, there is an activity for them where they are given a map and have to stamp the various areas they pass through during the visit.
Super clean.
Lots of interaction, and assistants explain each animal area.
Clean and large bathrooms.
There are several areas to sit in the middle of the route.
You will find a very cute shop at the end.
There are also some activities at the end with virtual glasses.
And there is a smoking area for those interested.
All the staff were super friendly."

"I really enjoyed my trip here. It's definitely a great place for children but I was visiting a friend and as an adult, I had a great time!
Everything is well maintained and beautifully set up. The clean and large bathrooms were a nice surprise as usually in such establishments where lots of children are involved, things can become messy quickly.
It should be noted that the staff were very helpful and friendly and even spoke in English when they realised I was an English speaker.
I would highly recommend a visit and do be sure to check out the cute shop at the end."

"Was genuinely excited to take our visitors (with a 6 yo child) to this place. We have been to Aqua Zoo in Düsseldorf and was really amazed. So we had high expectations here since it's an international franchise.
Cons:
- Price of the tickets were a bit more expensive to our liking, considering that a lot of the exhibitions were closed. No otters, no penguins, no seals.
- Place could use some sprucing up. Everything felt old. Ambience was depressing, from start to finish. Good thing my niece still appreciated seeing the fish, but the adults clearly saw what was lacking.
- Very crowded on a random weekend. I didn't see staff on standby inside to usher people through and engage kids. They could have compensated with the lack of exhibitions with engaged staff that actually talk to the kids.
- Limited to vending machines for after snacks options.
- I downloaded the app and it was very laggy. Couldn't even identify the fishes properly and were giving wrong data. Very misleading and a waste of time.
- No signal throughout the exhibition. It's 2025 folks.
- No locker rooms. Prams were left randomly scattered to the side of the reception.
Pros:
- Staff at front desk seemed to be nice. Although they were clearly exhausted already by 14:00.
- They set up some Halloween decoration and were giving away some Haribo. There were stamp stations across the place, but failed in execution as some of them were already missing the stamps.
- Very clean bathrooms.
- They had a friendly mascot waiting at the end to take photos with.
- Nice quality selection of souvenirs, but limited choices. Expensive but that is to be expected.
- I heard a staff member inside talking about mussels, it's nice to also have these educational stuff around places like these.
Overall, I'm not coming back. I would rather go to Aquazoo or even Krefeld Zoo to see more variety of animals."
