"One of the many historical attractions in Nuremburg. It used to be a wine storage facility in the early years and now the university students use it. A good starting point for a walk around the Old Town I would recommend 👍👍🙂"

Edward Rodrigues

"In interesting heritage building in Nuremburg is that of Wienstadel located on the northern bank of the Pegnitz at Maxplatz. This is one of the city's most famous architectural buildings.

What you see here is the largest half-timbered house in Germany, originally constructed between 1446-48. At that time, this location was outside the city walls. It was used then a hospice and place to feed lepers in the Middle Ages. In later became an imperial city wine storage location, giving the building its present name - Weinstadel (Wine Storage).

Heavily damaged during WWII bombing raids, it was reconstructed in the 1950s providing the version of Weinstadel that you can see today. Good views can be found from Maxbrücke as well as the small street that runs just to the west of this important heritage building."
