What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Burg Sooneck for its picturesque beauty, breathtaking Rhine Valley views, and friendly staff. The free treasure hunt for children is a major highlight, making it a great family destination. While some find the accessible interior limited, the overall experience is considered charming and worthwhile, especially with the option of combined tickets.
"We decided to visit this castle because we were in the area and bought a two castle ticket tour from the Rheinstein castle for a reduced price. Sooneck was easy to find. We arrived in the parking lot and it was a bit of a walk up the hill but most of it was paved which made it eaiser. Its a beautiful castle on the outside. The attendant was very nice and she gave us a layout map of the castle. The map was actually difficult to follow because there were no numbers on the different areas of the castle so we just figured out what room we were in by reading the description in the map. Most of the castle is not accessible but the few rooms we saw were nice and it was a panoramic view. Unfortunately there is a rock quarry besides it which is a little distracting but to no fault of Sooneck.
If you've seen lots of castles, at least ones with lots of accessible rooms, this one may not be for you since it's limited access but it does have medieval architecture. Side note, lots of steps which should be expected.
Overall, my 3 stars was based on the access of the rooms and area."

"Adorable! So picturesque!
When you first get to the entrance before you park. It seems wrong. It’s not. Just drive and park.
After you park it’s a small walk up the path to the castle.
Once inside there is a small store, souvenirs, snacks, drinks and tickets can be purchased here. When we went the lady working was so kind.
After you buy your tickets and walk around the views are breathtaking. The flowers were mostly in bloom so bees were out in full swing. Absolutely stunning.
There is a small part of the castle you can walk through a few rooms. Completely different than we expected. (Place slippers on feet to protect floors)
Will go back and bring my kids. They also offer a treasure hunt for kids. However I didn’t have mine this time.
We ended our sightseeing with wine, beer, a waffle and a souvenir with an amazing view.
Perfect spot for a break from it all."
