What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Nördlingen for its well-maintained medieval charm, particularly the unique experience of walking the historic city walls and exploring the crater-built town. The picturesque cobblestone streets and colorful houses are frequently highlighted as major draws. Some minor inconveniences include potential ongoing construction near certain gates.
"We enjoyed exploring this well maintained, beautiful and unique city located entirely inside of the crater formed by a meteor. Did some research and read that this place is surrounded by millions of diamonds (over 72,000 tons of 💎). Its walkable + can be explored on foot in just a day. We happened to be in a cafe nearby and this gate was the closest. There are 5 city gates. Take your time when strolling along the Historische Stadtmauer, it is 2.6 km long and free of charge. I was deliriously happy to wander and get lost in the maze of romantic cobblestone lanes and dotted red roof historic houses. These adorable homes are equipped with colourful window shutters and am partially to green shutters and red doors."

"That's good that we can walk along the city wall, quite special experience. However it seems recently there is some re-construction near this gate. All other gates are also good."
Geiermann Phaedra
"Reimlingen Gate was built in 1376 as the southeastern fortified gateway of Nördlingen Medieval Fortifications for protected the road to Augsburg and was rebuilt in 1603. Info is based on the article Reimlinger Tor of German Wikipedia. It is a good starting point to access the wall walkway."
