Real or Replica? Here's how to spot the difference #HMNS fun fact - Roughly 70% of the Morian Hall of Paleontology is authentic fossil material. The other 30% is museum and research grade replication casts from original bone. #dino #dinosaur #fossilfriday #houstonmuseum

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Paleontological Museum Munich for its free admission and well-curated exhibits, particularly the dinosaur skeletons and mammoth reconstruction. While some note its compact size, many find this a positive, allowing for a focused and enjoyable visit without feeling overwhelmed. The bilingual signage is appreciated, though some upper-level texts are primarily in German.

"The museum is a bit small but it's completely free and the exhibition is nicely done. In my opinion it's worth a visit."

"The installation in this museum is inspiring 🦕
Absolutely beautiful place, it is an amazing quality and relaxing time for you alone or with your children, they would love everything about this place.
Your go to in Munich city 🤍
And it’s absolutely free"

Alexandra Lapunova

"Small but well curated museum of skeletons and fossils of ancient creatures, including dinosaurs. Entry is free of charge. Ground floor displays vivid reconstructions, the most imposing of which is the mammoth. There are fossils on display behind glass on the walls, and explanatory text next to each display, both in German and English. It's a bit unclear which displays are reconstructions and which are actual bone or fossils. On the third floor there is another exhibit focused on fossilized squids and other sea creatures. Here most of the text is unfortunately only in German.

This is a perfect short visit if you're nearby on a weekday, and brief enough to probably be nice for children as well. You can see it all in an hour, or you might focus on the dinosaurs on the ground floor and be done in 30 minutes."
