What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the Kunstmuseum Marburg to be a charming and peaceful place, especially for a quiet afternoon escape. The renovated building and the works of Josef Albers are frequently highlighted as enjoyable aspects. However, some guests have noted areas for improvement in art curation flow and the design of the shop.
"Went on a Saturday with a friend. Other than us, there was maybe one visitor. I'm not familiar with art but I still enjoyed the experience. Alot of the paintings were easy to understand and seemed straight forward. However, how each person sees art can differ."

"A late and overdue review. Enjoyed it very much.
Great little museum for a rainy or cold afternoon.
Great friendly staff and you can tuck away your jackets and backpacks in a locker before going in.
However, I've some serious points of concern: art curation and the shop.
I visited the museum and the permanent collection twice.
1. The second time an exhibition on gardens and green spaces was injected into the permanent collection. Although the curator might feel daring, this feels very weird as transitions don't always happen flawlessly. I would advice a temporary versus permanent sections. There are also no indications where we are allowed to go and not. Toilets are at the lowest level. Unsure how accessible this makes them.
2. The shop is crammed into a 2 to 3 meters corridor. Reconsider for easy shopping without bumping into others/following distancing rules. To finish on a good note, I found Albers works which are great color studies and points of contemplation."

"A general art museum. To be honest, some of the art was quite cool, but a lot of it felt like a forgettable mix of generic paintings and installations. But it's certainly not without its charm, none-the-less! And the building itself was also quite nice.
I was very tired when I visited, so maybe I'm being too hard on it 😅."
