"In itself, it's a beautiful and interesting large-scale construction project. However, the area directly under the Elbe bridge is completely out of control! It's a popular meeting place for riffraff who regularly display their trash and botched "artwork." I've already had an in-depth conversation about this problem with a nice gentleman in a senior position at the Wittenberg public order office. Unfortunately, no one seems to feel responsible. It's strange that the smart city project promoted by the mayor apparently isn't having much of an effect in these problem areas. Perhaps there's not enough money to be made here? I also find the lack of effective cooperation between the German Angling Association (DAV), the responsible fisherman on the Elbe, and the water police concerning this and similar cases concerning. I've brought this up with anglers several times. The standard response: "I don't care. I pay my dues to help solve the problem." A strange attitude for a club member. Incidentally, the problem isn't being shifted towards the North Sea due to the lack of flooding. According to my information, three weirs have been built in the Czech Republic to prevent further controlled dam breaches."
