What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise St. Margaret Church Achdorf for its beautiful, light-filled Neo-Baroque interior and the stunning high altar. The spaciousness and bright white design create a serene atmosphere, making it a peaceful place for reflection. While generally quiet, it can get busy on major holidays, and some note minor issues with loudspeaker acoustics at the back.
"The new St. Margaret Church was completed in 1912, replacing the old church dating from 1440. The new church was built in the Neo-Baroque style. The interior of the church is beautifully designed. The walls and ceiling shine in a simple white, which makes the church shine brightly. What I liked most was the high altar, which was beautifully crafted."

"A large, light-filled church, which celebrated its patron saint's day last year. Located in the Achdorf-Kumhausen parish, it's the largest church there, though not the most historic or beautiful."

"Beautiful church, both inside and out.
With its official capacity of 675, it can accommodate well over 1,000 people, but it's only busy on major feast days, and you can usually always get a seat. On Christmas Day (usually during the family mass in the afternoon), it can sometimes happen that you can't get a seat 45 minutes before it starts. On such important days, it's also possible that the altar boys might overindulge with the incense and turn the church into a fog chamber.
The only thing that's poor is the acoustics of the loudspeakers and microphones in the back of the church.
The priest/dean, Mr. Blei, is very kind and makes the masses entertaining."

Architectural Significance
The interior is particularly striking, described as large and light-filled. The dominant use of simple white on walls and ceiling creates a luminous effect, making the space feel open and airy. Visitors have commented positively on the welcoming nature of the clergy, with one review specifically mentioning the priest/dean, Mr. Blei, as being very kind and making masses entertaining. The church's acoustics for loudspeakers and microphones in the rear sections have been mentioned as an area for improvement, though this doesn't detract from the overall positive experience for many.
