"beautiful nature, but we drove from Rotterdam to there instead of 5, 5 hours but 9 hours in total!(2 small break only). Really tiring in the first day! We found out later the route from TomTom App is much longer than Google map App. Pity us."

Be prepared for cooler temperatures and potentially challenging conditions, even in summer. The Brocken Railway is a popular and scenic way to ascend, but booking tickets in advance is highly recommended, particularly during peak tourist seasons. Remember to check the last train's departure time to ensure a safe descent, as walking down in the dark can be hazardous. The summit also features a weather station and a small museum, offering insights into the mountain's history and meteorology.
Hiking and Nature Trails
Key trails include the Hexenstieg (Witches' Trail), a long-distance path that traverses the entire Harz region, and numerous shorter loops that explore specific natural features. Visitors are advised to wear sturdy hiking boots and dress in layers, as weather conditions can change rapidly. Carrying a map or using an offline navigation app is crucial, as mobile reception can be unreliable in some areas. Remember to pack water and snacks, especially for longer treks, and always stay on marked paths to protect the delicate ecosystem and ensure your safety.

The park's visitor centers often provide information about local fauna and ongoing conservation projects. By respecting the park's rules and wildlife, you contribute to the ongoing success of these vital conservation initiatives, ensuring that future generations can also experience the magic of Harz's wild inhabitants.
