Reviews Summary

The Wilhelm Busch Museum is praised for its unique focus on caricature and satirical art, with special exhibitions like 'Max und Moritz' being a highlight. Visitors appreciate the reasonable prices and the beautiful setting in the Georgengarten. However, some find the humor dated and note the limited availability of English translations for exhibits.

"Caricature Museum of Hanover—officially known as the Wilhelm Busch – German Museum for Caricature and the Art of Drawing:

---

Ode to the Wilhelm Busch Museum

In Georgengarten’s tranquil grace,
A palace holds a storied place.
Where satire’s ink and artist’s hand
Have shaped the soul of this fair land.

From Busch’s pen, with wit so sly,
To Searle’s sharp gaze and Gillray’s eye,
Four centuries of jest and art
Are housed within this beating heart.

Born in thirty-seven’s tide,
By civic will and artist’s pride,
It rose, fell, and rose anew—
A phoenix drawn in black and blue.

Through war and peace, through laugh and sigh,
Its walls have watched the decades fly.
Yet still it stands, with mission clear:
To mock, to muse, to draw us near.

So here’s to Hanover’s noble trove,
Where caricature and truth both rove.
A bastion where the jest survives—
A mirror to our tangled lives.

---"

"Posters of the museum are probably more creative than the rest of the content inside (maybe they are the only visual part worth watching).

I could grasp the humor expressed on the pictures, but it is relatively basic and feels outdated and/or childish. Likely, very specific to the previous epoch.

Still I have seen many other visitors there enjoying the exposition."

"Very good museum! Located quite close to the Leibniz Universität. When I visited it, it was temporary exhibition of Deix and the main exhibition on the second floor.
Price is quite reasonable : 6 euro for normal ticket, 4 euro for reduced.
The exhibition of Deix is absolutely amazing, very good painted and full of humour. It's a pity that it's only in German language, so, I couldn't understand everything.
The main exhibition is also nice
I think the main disadvantage of museum is the absence of English translation"
