What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Swiss Life Hall is a popular venue praised for its good acoustics and energetic atmosphere during concerts and events. While many enjoy the diverse performances and convenient location, some find the wooden seating uncomfortable and note the lack of air conditioning during warmer months.
"Perfect place for concerts . Quite good acoustic. Large concert stage. Quite a large area with standing room. Possibility of leaving your clothes in the cloakroom. They also serve food and drinks during events, including alcohol. Easy access from the station. Parking place near ."

"Located a stone throw away from the HDI Arena, The Swiss Life Hall offers its patrons a performance hall with a fantastic acoustic quality. I myself have frequented this venue on a number of occasions, all of which has been wonderful. In terms of setup, it is very straight forward (for bands performing there): It has the main stage, right infront of it is a massive open standing area and with seating (theater style) situated at the back. This offers a clean and straightforward layout, without being ridiculously intrusive.
A downside is that a venue of this size might be difficult to keep cool, with the number of feet that moves through it doors for the many concerts it holds, so unfortunately it does not offer any air conditioning on hot summer days (but that is why you have a beer/drink in hand).
Overall, bands performing there always seem to have a great time, and the crowds are generally loads of fun. All in all, very cool spot in general."

The Swiss Life Hall Experience: Beyond the Music
However, the venue's design, dating back to the 1960s as a sports hall, presents some challenges. Reddit users frequently mention the uncomfortable wooden seating, describing it as akin to being 'squashed like in a sardine can.' Furthermore, the lack of air conditioning can make the hall uncomfortably warm, especially during summer events. Despite these drawbacks, the hall is praised for its good acoustics and straightforward layout, which includes a large standing area in front of the stage and tiered seating at the back.
Despite the comfort issues, the Swiss Life Hall remains a popular choice due to its excellent location, easy access via public transport, and the consistently high energy of its events. The staff are also noted for being efficient and helpful, contributing to a positive overall experience for attendees. Whether you're there for a high-octane concert or a laugh-out-loud comedy show, the Swiss Life Hall offers a memorable, albeit sometimes physically challenging, experience.
Navigating the Swiss Life Hall: Practicalities for Attendees
Inside the venue, be prepared for the seating situation. The wooden benches are a recurring point of discussion among visitors, with many advising to bring a cushion for added comfort during longer events. Hydration is also key, especially during warmer months, as the hall lacks air conditioning. Fortunately, food and drink are available for purchase, including alcoholic options, to help you stay refreshed. A cloakroom service is also provided, allowing you to leave your belongings and enjoy the event more freely.
While the venue's infrastructure might not be the most modern, its strengths lie in its good acoustics and the vibrant atmosphere generated by its diverse events. From energetic concerts by artists like Ayliva and Luciano to sporting events like MMA fights, the Swiss Life Hall consistently delivers engaging experiences. The key is to be aware of the potential comfort limitations and plan accordingly to make the most of your visit.
