"The Weser island of Werder can be reached on the western side via the Münsterbrücke and Inselstraße. On the eastern side, you can access the island via a steel pedestrian bridge, on which a golden rat sits enthroned. Part of the island is laid out like a park; opposite the park is the restaurant "die Insel" with a small playground, café, and beer garden. In the summer months, it's a lovely place to relax and meet people. The toilets belong to the restaurant and are only open when the restaurant is open. The Weser island, the "old Weser lock in Hameln," and the "Pfortmühle" are all worthwhile destinations for a stroll nearby."
