"I've always wanted to go up this tower, but unfortunately, it's not so easy to do. Today I finally made it! The view of Erlangen and the surrounding area is simply fantastic! The water tower was renovated a few years ago, but most of the original fixtures and technology have been retained. There's still a lot of old locksmithing and blacksmithing work. Impressive!"

"The listed 32 meter high tower has been operated as a water tower since 1905. The spire, visible from afar, is one of the city's landmarks.
The 32 meter high tower was built in 1904 and 1905 according to the plans of the city planning officer Franz Kreuter and designs by the construction assistant Hugo Sieber. The facade of the concrete building was designed in a historicist style.
Due to the square floor plan, the windows that look like arrow slits and the tiled pyramid roof, it is strongly reminiscent of a medieval castle tower. Its location on the castle hill, on which a castle never stood, also contributes to this impression.
Unfortunately, the inside of the tower can rarely be viewed, but a walk there is definitely worth it"

This architectural choice, coupled with its location on the Burgberg (a hill where a castle never stood), enhances its imposing presence. Reddit

Originally operated as a water tower since 1905, the tower retains much of its original fixtures and technology. This historical integrity makes it more than just a viewpoint; it's a glimpse into industrial heritage. Reddit

While the tower is a beloved city landmark, direct access to its interior is infrequent. Travelers often express a desire to visit but find opportunities limited. Checking local event schedules for special open days is crucial for those hoping to explore its historical depths and enjoy the views from above. Reddit+1
