I LOVED DRESDEN! 🇩🇪 this stunning city in Germany has been almost completely rebuilt since WWII. I spent 2 days here but you could easily see the main sights in one day, making it a great option as a day trip from Berlin. I recommend visiting in November/December in order to visit the magical Striezelmarkt, the oldest Christmas market in Europe! 🎄 #traveltiktok #travelguide #europetravel #backpac...

Reviews Summary

The Dresden City Museum offers a decent overview of the city's history at an affordable price, with highlights including detailed models and exhibits on modern history. However, some visitors find the lack of comprehensive English explanations for earlier periods and the overall presentation to be a drawback, especially when compared to other city museums.

"Dresden is a wonderful and beautiful city, but I felt the city museum is a little unloved. I visited the Leipzig city museum previously and the comparison is quite stark. Leipzig's museum was free and excellent. The Dresden museum needs improving to match the status of the city. It was a bit unclear what we were paying for, but it didn't include the gallery. Unfortunately a lot of the exhibits on early Dresden had no accompanying English text so it was difficult to contextualise what I was looking at. I found the modern history floor better as there was some English description. It was interesting, in general, but why was I looking at naked mannequins? No idea."

Da Sto

"It is not a big museum but it shows the history of the city nicely with beutiful models and paintings. Also, there is another hall about WW2 and after. That room contains some modern art and some historical remnants."

Zehra Nalci

"Great exhibition about Dresden, well presented, Exhibits have sufficient explanations, good cross-section of areas included not just victimhood from the bombing or the Stasi time. The overall layout was a bit confusing as the chronological order was not clear.
The cafe is a bit sad with coffee served from a vending machine but at least there was one."
