"This is a charming, rich, and well-organized museum in the quaint student city of Detmold.
Fascinating paintings about the battle of Varus, 9 AD, when prince Arminius, renamed Hermann in the 19 th century, defeated a large Roman army and became a founding myth of the German nation.
A special thanks to the administrator at the entrance who pointed out the almost invisible sliding door connecting the Barn and Granary buildings. Without this helpful tip, we would have missed the most significant part of the museum."

"I have been there because if the "Detmolder Night of arts". Different museums opened their doors for lovers of arts and crafts. I have to admit I'm one of them. I came to this museum in the evening. I was kind of bummed when they told me that there was only one room open because if was already kinda late. But the paintings in that room were sooo beautiful. Different techniques styles and artists. Some abstract some realistic and with a lot of detail.
I would totally recommend this whkle place for groups and single visitors.
And every piece in there is worth the prize."
