"I visited Detmold today and took in some of the sights on the beautiful market square, including the very attractive weekly market, the Donop Fountain, the church, and, last but not least, the listed town hall, also known as the New Town Hall. The old town hall was demolished in 1827, along with three town houses to make room for the new town hall. The new town hall was built between 1828—the foundation stone was laid on September 18—and 1830. The town hall was ready for occupancy in January 1831."
