What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the stunning panoramic views from the Ludwigsturm tower and the convenience of nearby parking. The short, accessible walk and the opportunity to enjoy local treats from a friendly vendor are also frequently highlighted positives. Some minor drawbacks include the potential for crowds on the narrow tower stairs and the tower's opening hours being dependent on an attendant.
"Came here on a warm August Sunday afternoon with my oldest daughter (almost 6 years old). We parked in the Parkplatz next to it, and walked up the paved stroller-friendly path to the tour, which which took about 3 minutes. I didn't realize that the tower costs 1 euro for anyone over the age of 12, so was glad the parking is so close when I had to go back for my wallet. I also didn't realize there would be a gift / liquor shop at the base of the tower. The area around the tower had some seating, a lot of shade, and several educational signs about the area and Celtic history, as well as a Celtic statue. The tower itself is nice; it is a stone structure that is pretty, if made less so by all of the signs and stuff around its base. It has large cement stairs with no gaps and a sturdy railing, and was well lit. It took us about 5-7 minutes to get to the top with only one break for my daughter. The top is not covered, but has unobstructed views of the gorgeous area around, as well as of a large radio/television tower. The platform on the top is in a circle encircling the covered stairwell, and is large but easily crowded once there are multiple groups of people up there. The stairs also are narrow and while it is possible to pass others coming the other direction, we chose to stop to let them by safely. I enjoyed this visit, especially with the close proximity of parking and low cost."
