What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Wilde Endert Gorge Trail offers stunning natural beauty and rewarding viewpoints, particularly the Zickelslay overlook. However, some visitors find significant portions of the trail to be less engaging due to wide tracks, and signage can be inconsistent, leading to potential navigation issues. Construction detours have also been a point of disappointment for some.
"This is a must do hike. We did a looped hike of about 2,5 hours from here. It is however not an easy path, def only for experienced hikers. Start on the wide and easy path and after a while you can go onwards to Göbelsmühle or turn right towards Zickelslay, a must do viewpoint. Take the right and start a intense climb up the mountain. The paths are good, it's just a big climb. When you get to the top you can go straight to the town of Greimersburg or take a right to Zickelslay. After Zickelslay you keep sticking to the right and start the descend again. This path becomes trickier, lots of small and loose stones and rocks. The very last bit that connects to the starting and main path is nearly not a path anymore, see video. Very doable if you watch your step. This hike was 100% worth it, so beautiful. End with a tasty and well priced lunch at the hotel. Parking is plenty and free. For people not so good with hiking I would recommend the hike to Göbelsmühle. It's a very even and wide path on which you can see car tracks. Have not walked this though so I don't know if you can make a loop of it."

Navigating Trail Challenges and Detours

This can be a significant disappointment for those seeking an immersive nature experience. It's advisable to check for any recent updates on trail conditions or construction before your visit.
Despite these potential hurdles, the trail is described as 'very doable if you watch your step.' The key is preparation: wear appropriate footwear, carry navigation aids, and be flexible with your route if unexpected obstacles arise.
