What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Marienberg Chapel Viewpoint are mixed, with many praising the varied landscapes and beautiful Rhine views. However, significant criticisms arise regarding trail maintenance, litter, and inconsistent signage, leading some visitors to feel disappointed compared to expectations set by positive reviews. The challenging nature of the trail, especially towards the end, requires good footwear and surefootedness.
"We hiked together today and were impressed by how varied and beautiful the route is. The trail is quite challenging in parts; especially toward the end, surefootedness and good shoes are essential. Overall, though, it's a great trail with beautiful viewpoints and plenty of rest stops. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend the route in bad, wet weather."

"Given the trail's high score, we were very excited about what awaited us. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The route wasn't nearly as beautiful as we'd hoped. The section along the Rhine wasn't so great either. A large portion of this route was also closed due to one or more ground wasp nests. Did the trail have to be closed immediately, or wouldn't appropriate warning signs have been sufficient? The rest of the route was rather boring and, above all, very unkempt. We're puzzled as to how this route achieved such a high score!"

"Actually a very nice hike with a varied landscape (runs through a meadow orchard) and wonderful views of the Rhine.
I was here at the end of October 2019 and unfortunately the path between kilometers 8 and 10 was partially broken, so I had to take a detour. Hopefully this will be repaired after the winter because I really enjoyed the rest of the trail."
