What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Buchheim Museum Bernried for its stunning modern architecture and beautiful lakeside location, offering a serene environment for art appreciation. The collection of expressionist art and folk objects is highly regarded, with special exhibitions like Otto Dix drawing particular acclaim. However, some families have found the children's activity areas to be inconsistently engaging.
"We came because it seemed like a nice little outing with the kids as I saw downstairs there be kids painting and ceramics etc.
We were quite disappointed because no other kids were there even though it was a Saturday and the gentlemen working there was weird. He first “educated me” for not saying hello ( which we did of course but maybe he didn’t hear ) and then explained that the kids are too young anyway for painting and ceramics ( which they were not ) . Anyhow we played a little there but the whole atmosphere was sad so we left.
I’m sure the rest of the museum is superb, we only saw a small section. But not worth the drive from Munich for the kids activities. Would be nice to have a staff in the kids workshop area who can truly connect with kids instead saying “keine angst” every time my kids looked his way."

"If your grandma had an endless attic and endless amount of time to travel and collect all her eyes could see, she wouldn’t be impressed by this place. But she didn’t, so it is a good idea to take her here."
